History of School

Carol Moseley Braun Elementary School is named after the former Illinois State Senator Carol Moseley Braun. She was the first black female senator in the state of Illinois. Our school is one of the eight schools in Dolton School District 149. Carol Moseley Braun Elementary School is known as  “The Donut School.” This is because the building is circular, just like a donut. We serve students from the following communities: Calumet City, Dolton, and South Holland. Our school serves students in grades 1st thru 6th. CMB is the overflow school for Caroline Sibley and Diekman Elementary School. Students complete their Kindergarten year at Diekman School. The school student enrollment is currently at 261.
