Welcome Back CMB Families,
Welcome back to the 2023-2024 school year! We hope you all are doing well and staying healthy and have had a relaxing and fun summer break! We are looking forward to a productive partnership with you to ensure our children can achieve their highest potential.
This school year we are opening our doors to Kindergarten students! I am excited to welcome our first Kindergarten class. For new families, this year will be full of learning and fun and an incredible year of growth for your child. We look forward to this new adventure for you and your child.
Our mission is to inspire every student to think, to learn, to dream, to achieve, and to care. Our vision is for all students to obtain the necessary knowledge, skills, and self-motivation to become lifelong learners, socially responsible citizens, and active participants in their ever-changing world. Our instructional focus continues to be intentionally planning for instruction.
Student growth has increased tremendously on the NWEA Map Assessment from 35%-65% of students meeting RIT in math and from 40%-52% of students meeting RIT targets in reading. The goal is 100% and closing the achievement gap for all students! Therefore, we will continue to use student academic achievement data to assist with planning small groups based on each student's individual needs in the areas of reading and math.
On Saturday, August 4, 2023, District 149 will be hosting a Back to School “Lotta Palooza” at Caroline Sibley School located 1550 Sibley Blvd, Calumet City, IL 60409 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. We Look forward to seeing our families attend.
District 149 has a specific “Uniform Policy” for all our students. Students are to wear light blue tops and navy blue bottoms. Sweaters and/or sweatshirts must be navy blue or light blue.
We look forward to seeing all of our children on Wednesday, August 16th for the first day of school, which is a full day of student attendance from 9:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. Students will be served breakfast in their classrooms after arriving at school. Due to school safety protocols, students will not be permitted to enter the building until 8:45 a.m. The safety of our students and staff is one of my top priorities. Therefore, all students will participate in a light backpack check to ensure that students do not bring inappropriate objects or items into the school.
We are pleased to inform you that Dolton School District 149 will continue the implementation of the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), an option available to schools participating in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast programs, for the 2023-2024 school year. Schools that participate in CEP are able to provide healthy breakfasts and lunches each day at no charge for all students enrolled in that CEP school.
We recognize it is an honor and privilege to continue to serve you and your child/children. We cannot do this work without you, we strive to strengthen our parent partnership. Please make sure that you attend family school events, and Coffee Talk with the Principal. The support that parents provide makes a huge difference!
We welcome you to another great year at CMB!!!
